Phillip Anderson
Welcome, and thank you for visiting ‘Band Tune Up Solutions’. I hope that I will be able to help you bring out the colour and emotion in your musical journey.
There are many skills required to successfully lead or conduct a band or orchestra or to manage a musical event or to be an effective musician either within a dynamic team of musicians or by yourself. Those skills range from being a competent musician or conductor to a compassionate manager and strategic leader who is able to plan and deliver a well constructed and exciting program of activities for musicians, audiences, and customers.
Remember Aristotle Plato’s reflection on the lived experience: ‘Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything’. I hope as you read through the material contained in my site you will discover new ideas and counterpoint about musical leadership by incorporating the lessons I have learned through a lived musical experience with the lessons you have learned either through the lived experience or in the text or in the classroom environment.
Through my blog ‘A Music Conversation’ and subsequent articles, I hope to steer you along the next passage of your musical journey. The themes contained in my conversation are designed to challenge you to add your own counterpoint to each of four main themes and to then develop your own ideas to assist you to bring out the colour and emotion in your musical journey. The themes I have chosen are dealt with broadly in my article — I leave the detailed development of those themes and underlying motifs to subsequent conversations with you. We can do that online, by telephone, or with you and/or your ensemble in a master class or workshop format.
I know that you will find my techniques to tune up your performance very useful. I will also be happy to act as the Master of Ceremonies or guest speaker for your event and provide professional advice on developing your ensemble’s repertoire or planning major events and tours.
I look forward to working with you and your musicians to help bring out the colour and emotion in your musical journey.
