When Courage Abounds

Today marks the 81st Anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Armidale (I). The loss of life on the Armidale was the highest for any corvette in the Second World War. Only 49 of the 149 men on board survived the ordeal.

I composed When Courage Abounds to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the loss of HMAS ARMIDALE. This march was first performed in the city of Armidale in the presence of survivors to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Armidale (I). Like many of my marches, When Courage Abounds features the bugle and fanfare trumpets and is as much a visual salute as it is a musical salute.

The trio is couched around the following words that I penned to honour those brave seafarers:

Men of ARMIDALE; your deeds exclaimed today. March forth with honour; Australia sings your praise. Men of mighty deeds; gave hope and strength to all. These gifts sustain us; When Courage Abounds.

You can listen to the march on my YouTube channel:
